Oahu


Oahu is one of the eight main islands of Hawaii-archipelago. It is also called The Gathering Place.
With 1,557 km ² Oahu is the third largest of the islands, which account for about 900,000 residents 75% of the population of the state. Oahu is 64 km long and 42 km wide and is also the economic center Hawaii is.
The island is hilly and reaches in Mt Kaala a height of 1,225 m. Honolulu covers the largest part Oahus, outside the city are pineapple and sugar cane.
The most important acquisition activity is tourism (see The Royal Hawaiian Hotel).
At Oahu, Honolulu, the capital of the State of Hawaii and the U.S. naval base Pearl Harbor, site of the Japanese of 7 December 1941. Some 40,000 soldiers are stationed Oahu.
